Du Page County Environmental Committee met March 3.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee:

1. CALL TO ORDER

8:30 AM meeting was called to order by Chair Elizabeth Chaplin at 8:30 AM.

2. ROLL CALL

PRESENT: Krajewski, Chaplin, Selmon, Elliott, Larsen

ABSENT: Healy

3. CHAIR REMARKS

A. Children's Environmental Health Seminar

Karen Ayala of the DuPage County Health Department provided a brief recap of the Children's Environmental Health Fair to the committee members.

Ms. Ayala provided a handout that can be found on the DuPage County Health Department's Website.

B. DuPage County Fair Garden Boxes

Chair Chaplin reminded the committee members that the garden boxes from last year that were painted and decorated will be utilized at this years County Fair.

C. Hope's Garden at DuPage County Sheriff's Department

Chair Chaplin informed the committee members that Hope's Garden will be relocated to the Sheriff's Department and the women inmates will maintain the garden moving forward.

6. PARENT COMMITTEE APPROVAL

A. EN-R-0266-20 RESOLUTION -- Secondary Host Community Benefit Agreement

DuPage County, Illinois, and Lakeshore Recycling Systems, LLC For A Solid Waste Transfer Facility

John Hock, P.E of Lakeshore Recycling Systems provided a Power Point Presentation to the committee members explaining the location of the new facility and explained what type of services will be offered.

K.J Loerop, Director of M&A and Special Projects for Lakeshore Recycling Systems, also provided additional information to the committee members and also invited all to visit so that they may see and obtain more indebt information regarding the services that will be offered by Lakeshore Recycling Systems.

7. STAFF REPORTS

A. Tree-mendous Fair - April 24, 2020

Andi Dierich, Environmental Coordinator for DuPage County, informed the committee members that on April 24, 2020 will be the Tree-mendous Fair and the fair will be hosted here on campus where trees will be given away to staff and to the public.

B. Staff Reports -- 50th Anniversary of Earth Day

Andi Dierich, informed the committee members that this year will mark the 50th Year Anniversary of Earth Day, and staff will be working with the Earth Day Network to post tips on social media for the month of April. The theme for Earth Day 2020 is climate action.

8. PRESENTATIONS

A. Educational Partners - SCARCE DuPage County Projects

Kay of SCARCE provided a Power Point Presentation of past and upcoming events as well as new updates.
