Downers Grove Community High School District 99 Parent-Teacher Advisory Committee met May 14.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The Parent-Teacher Advisory Committee of Community High School District 99 met at 6:05 p.m. at North High School.

The following were present: Dan Nicholas, Board Member; Scott Wuggazer; Assistant Superintendent for Student Services; Gina Ziccardi, Assistant Superintendent for Student Learning; and Juli Gniadek, Secretary.

There were 24 attendees. A copy of the Visitor Roster is attached.

1. INTRODUCTIONS AND PURPOSE OF THE MEETING

Scott Wuggazer welcomed those in attendance, introduced Board member Dan Nicholas and thanked everyone for their participation. Other staff members in attendance introduced themselves. Mr. Wuggazer shared the objectives and norms of the group, emphasizing being respectful, responsible and engaged. He reviewed the agenda for the evening.

2. OVERVIEW OF CONSOLIDATED DISTRICT PLAN

Gina Ziccardi stated the Consolidated District Plan, which is new in Illinois and is required of Districts that receive grant funding, requires that stakeholders look at data and their feedback be included in the Plan. She shared the Plan is designed to streamline the grants, bringing all funding sources together, and offering holistic services to students. Ms. Ziccardi summarized the requirements and some of the data types being reviewed for the Plan, noting that discipline data would be looked at this evening.

3. SMALL GROUP DISCUSSION 

Mr. Wuggazer introduced the small group discussion topics of: State Accountability and Discipline Data; and Dean Interventions. He then shared a brief video on the “Why Try” program. Those in attendance broke into four groups, facilitated by District 99 staff members who recorded input from the groups.

4. CLOSING REMARKS 

Mr. Wuggazer thanked the parents and staff for attending and participating. He stated he would be sending a follow up Google Form, including copies of the materials provided this evening, to those in attendance to provide additional feedback on the topics discussed as well as comments on the meeting itself. Scott Wuggazer stated the District values the feedback received. He shared he would be reporting out from this meeting to the Board of Education at its meeting on Monday.

5. ADJOURNMENT 

The meeting concluded at 7:31 p.m.
