Wheaton College senior guard Aston Francis is racking up awards as fast as he has points this season.
Francis, who recently netted a school-record 54 points in a recent 99-54 win over UW-Platteville, was named Division III Player of the Week by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association, and he was named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week for the week of Dec. 11, according to the school's website.
Francis swished 16 of 27 shots against Platteville, equaling the most points scored in a game this season at any NCAA level. He also added four steals and two assists before returning later in the week to notch 20 points and eight rebounds in a 69-59 loss to North Central at King Arena.
For the week, the 6'1" senior averaged 37 points, seven rebounds and 2.5 steals.
At 32.3 points per game, Francis leads all NCAA Division III scorers this season and now ranks eighth in career scoring at Wheaton with 1,627 points.
