Naperville Metra Station to undergo maintenance work beginning July 20
Naperville officials announced on July 16 that maintenance work will begin at the Naperville Metra Station at 105 E. 4th Ave. starting Monday, July 20. The project, contracted to Futurity19, Inc., will focus on brick tuckpointing on the exterior wall of the station’s north side and is expected to last approximately two weeks, depending on weather and unforeseen circumstances.
Crews will work weekdays from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Safety barriers and signage will be placed around the work area on the train platform to maintain safe access for riders. According to the City of Naperville, "Riders should plan on allowing extra time to reach the train platform and use caution in all work areas. Crews will work Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Safety barriers and signage will be in place around the work area on the train platform to ensure safe access for riders. For a short period, the north doors will be inaccessible while work is performed directly above them. During this time, riders should use the east and west doors to access the platform."
During the same period, a one-day ceiling maintenance project will take place in the pedestrian tunnel. The tunnel will remain open, with barricades and signage directing pedestrians around the work area as needed, the City said.
