Court orders detention of man accused of Hinsdale necklace robbery

A DuPage County judge has granted the state's motion to deny pre-trial release for a man accused of violently robbing a woman of her gold necklace in Hinsdale on July 16.

DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and Hinsdale Chief of Police Brian King announced that Judge Robert Walsh approved the state's request to detain the man, who was most recently living in Chicago. The suspect is accused of forcibly taking a gold necklace from a woman last Friday evening in Hinsdale.

According to Berlin and King, the decision to deny pre-trial release follows the suspect's arrest and the state's motion citing the violent nature of the alleged robbery. The incident reportedly involved the suspect ripping the necklace off the woman's neck.
