Bill mentioned a visit with the Elk Grove Village economic development team in Elk Grove Village that he, Erin Jason and Ken Bartels had participated in. Elk Grove Village is organized and their business parks are structured a great deal differently from Elmhurst’s. Bill called on Chris LaBounty to comment on the passage of the new Downtown TIF. Chris represented the EDC at the earlier public meeting. Thanks, Chris.

Bill introduced new EDC Commissioner Pat Wagner and welcomed him. Pat will serve on the EDC Subcommittee on Zoning. Reappointments for Commissioners Schiele (EDC), Anglewicz, LaBounty and Radke will go forward prior to April 30th. A new appointment for Commissioner Bill Huber is in process.

Ken reviewed the shared brainstorming notes from our February 23rd meeting. They will form an agenda of possible activity for the EDC in 2018.

There were eighteen retention visits recorded.

Erin stated that the 5th EDC Women-in-Management event will likely be on May 1st at Pinot’s Palette and feature Dr. Annette VanAken from Elmhurst College. Erin further reported on business activity in Elmhurst: Trans-Chicago, Component Parts Co., The Stray Hen, Kimmer’s Ice Cream, Ni Hao, Footheaven Massage, The York Building, Sweetberry Bowls, and Bacci Pizza.

Eileen Franz told the EDC details regarding Planned Use Developments (PUDs) and the status of the Houseal-Lavigne Area Subplans. A draft of these plans will be ready soon with a public open house likely set for May 2nd. Mike mentioned that Houseal-Lavigne might visit the EDC on April 27th.

Mike Kopp updated the EDC on the recent approval by the City Council of the proposed expansion of Elmhurst Extended Care. He also shared some details on the new, approved Downtown TIF and the end of TIF1. Mike shared that the City has openings for FT summer workers and that the new Elmhurst History Museum exhibit ‘Snoopy & the Red Baron’ is getting great, early publicity.

John Quigley told the EDC about the Chamber’s upcoming receipt of an award from the Daily Herald and the wonderful success of ‘Elmhurst-Opoly’ with games likely to be in-hand by the end of May. He also announced that the Elmhurst Trolley advertising effort will commence very soon.

Ken asked that if members have ideas for a guest presenter for the EDC’s April 27th meeting, they should be in direct contact with him.

The next EDC meeting will be on April 27th at City Hall. The May meeting will be held at the Brewpoint Roastery.
