One of the first responders to the attack on the American diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya, in 2012 will be the guest speaker at the DuPage Republican Day event on Oct. 23.
John “Tig” Tiegen, a former member of the Annex Security Team for the CIA’s Global Response Staff (GRS), will share his story about the attack that killed four Americans.
Tiegen was key in saving the lives of many in his own team as well over two dozen others in the attack, which is recounted in MItchell Zuckoff's book "13 Hours: The Inside Account of What Really Happened in Benghazi."

A military sergeant and infantry squad leader, Tiegen has also been a security protection contractor for Blackwater Security and completed missions in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq as part of his involvement in more than 40 overseas deployments to help provide security in high-threat situations.
