Naperville Riverwalk Commission met Wednesday, July 6.
The Riverwalk Commission works to promote, encourage and guide the development and use of the Riverwalk, a linear park located in downtown Naperville along the DuPage River.

I. Call to Order
Buddingh called the meeting to order at 7:35 a.m.
II. Action Items
A. Open Forum - Members of the Public who wish to address the Committee
No members of the public were interested in addressing the Committee.
B. Park District – Chuck Papanos
1. Riverwalk Parking Lot
One of the cap stones on the perimeter of the Riverwalk parking lot was damaged. It has recently been replaced.
2. Vehicle Incidents
The Park District experienced two separate incidents where staff and vehicles lost control of their vehicles and ended up in the river. All staff is well and the vehicles were recovered in a timely fashion.
C. Moser Tower Assessment — Brian Dusak Dusak reported that the next draft report will probably be ready by the middle of July. When completed, the final report will include an assessment of the interior and exterior structure as well as a recommended prioritized course of action, timeline and suggested future maintenance. This document will be the companion piece to the Riverwalk Asset Management Plan (AMP).
D. Water Street District/Riverwalk – Bill Novack Novack reported that the Riverwalk portion of the project is wrapping up with the exception of the landscaping. He stated that the ramp adjacent to the Naperville Township Building was poured last week. He also stated that although the Riverwalk portion may be completed prior to the remainder of the project, it will probably remain closed until the autumn.
E. CY 2016 Work Plan (PA022)
1. Rotary Hill Parking Lot Repair – Bill Novack
The damaged curbing has been removed and it should be replaced by the end of this week. The remainder of the repairs for the parking lot are scheduled to be completed before the beginning of the School District 203 academic year on August 17, 2016.
2. Moser Bridge Shoreline Restoration – Bill Novack
Dusak reported that the project is out for bid. A pre-bid meeting is scheduled for July 12, 2016 with the bid opening scheduled for July 20, 2016. He explained the alternates and options that are included in the bid.
3. Reroof Jaycee Gazebo — Bill Novack
The City’s Job Order Contractor (JOC) has recently submitted a proposal to reroof the Jaycee Gazebo located in Fredenhagen Park. The proposal is higher than anticipated. Erickson will contact additional roofing contractors for quotes.
III. New Business
A. Cliff Preston Memorial – Jan Erickson At their last meeting, the Riverwalk Foundation discussed possible options for a memorial in honor of former Riverwalk Chairman, Cliff Preston who recently passed away. Two locations have been identified; one on Jackson Avenue between the Amphitheater and the Free Speech Pavilion and one immediately southwest of the Horse Plow Plaza. The topic will be discussed at the July 13, 2016 Riverwalk Commission meeting.
B. Recycling Containers on the Riverwalk – Jan Erickson A Riverwalk guest had contacted Erickson about the possibility of adding recycling containers on the Riverwalk. Following discussion, it was decided that Papanos will bring a map showing 6-8 suggested locations to the August 2, 2016 PDC meeting.
