The West Chicago Finance Committee approved a lease agreement between the city and the West Chicago Fire Protection District, as well as an amendment to the fiscal year 2015 budget, during a recent meeting.
The agreement with the West Chicago Fire Protection district, concerning 509 Church St, addresses parking concerns in the area raised at a previous meeting.
The committee also heard a presentation on the 2014 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report, which was audited by Lauterbach and Amen.
Committee members also discussed impacts and fees associated with the West Chicago Environmental Response Trust Project (WCERT). Alderman Laura Grodoski highlighted the hardships experienced by some district residents because of costly fees associated with sanitary sewer hook-up. Grodoski asked that these fees be waived in some cases.
Alderman Sandy Dimas responded by saying the hook-up is not a mandatory connection, and that the decision to connect to the city sewer system rests with homeowners. In addition, committee members noted that the waived fees would then be passed on to other homeowners in the district.
