The Village of Elk Grove said this week that the Love Street water-main project has been progressing ahead of schedule.
Some road closures will continue as the project nears completion. Verde Lane and Bianco Drive remain open to traffic, but Corrinthia Drive will remain closed. In the area of Elk Grove Boulevard to 756/757 Love Street, water-main installation in this segment has been completed, and pipe testing is underway. Weather permitting, water services will begin to be transferred to the new main sometime next week.
In the areas of 756/757 Love Street to Laurel Street, contractors have begun installing the north end of the water main, with completion possible by the end of this week. Following testing, the village anticipates transferring water services to the new main shortly after the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
As for the Laurel, Bianco, Corrinthia and Verde area, once both sections of the new water main are up and running, the contractor will complete connections to the new Love Street water main. During these operations, water-service shut-offs will occur along each route. Notices of the shut-offs will be distributed to residents prior to the work.
The Village also has installed pressure-relief devices on Elk Grove's fire hydrants. These devices assist in regulating pressure within the water system by releasing water when necessary. Please do not be concerned if you see water leaking from the hydrants.
If you have any questions or concerns on the water-main work or hydrant upgrades, please call the Public Works offices at 847-734-8800. Construction updates also can be found on the village’s website www.elkgrove.org.
