The City of Warrenville will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony Saturday at 9 a.m. to celebrate the reopening of the Williams Road Bridge after an eight-month reconstruction project, which was finished on schedule.
To save time and money, the project’s bid conditions required that it be completed in one construction season. The significant safety upgrade project, which was funded by a $2 million-plus federal grant, had four critical goals: raise the roadway above the 100-year floodplain, allowing better flow of water during and following heavy rains; improve safety for pedestrians with a protected sidewalk on the west side; provide enhanced lighting for safety and aesthetic purposes; and extend service of the sanitary sewer and water main from Batavia Road to Iroquois Court South, improving conditions for current residents and allowing for future expansion and emergency loop service for Iroquois Court.
Parking for attendees at the ribbon cutting will be available at the nearby Immanuel Presbyterian Church, and light refreshments will be served. Those planning to attend should RSVP to Executive Assistant Alma Morgan at amorgan@warrenville.il.us or call (630) 393-9427.
