Elk Grove Village has been recognized as one of just three communities in Illinois to be declared a 2015 Playful City USA community.
“The commitment and cooperation of the village, the park district, the local school districts and our civic organizations helps to keep our community a desirable and healthy place to live," Mayor Craig B. Johnson said.
The national program is coordinated by KaBOOM!, a national nonprofit dedicated to providing children growing up in poverty a childhood filled with balanced and active play, so they can thrive.
“Playability is crucial to the success of our future communities, and we are proud of the work these cities and leaders are doing to provide a better quality of life for all residents, and especially families,” KaBOOM! President James Siegal said. “Play provides a competitive advantage for cities looking to attract and retain residents. With these esteemed leaders, and our friends and partners across the country, we continue to prioritize play for all kids.”
