The Village of Lisle is currently in the process of removing 950 ash trees on the public parkway that face eventual death due to the emerald ash borer.
The project is expected to be completed by Aug. 31.
There are also trees infected with the emerald ash borer that are on private property. These trees, pursuant to village code, are classified as nuisance trees and must be removed by the property owner.
The diseased, infested or infected material must be legally disposed of in accordance with state and federal regulations. Chipping of tree materials is permitted provided that any material chipped does not exceed 1 square inch of final chip surface.
In the event the owner of property with an infested or diseased tree can’t be found or refuses to remove the tree, the village or its authorized agent may remove and dispose of the diseased tree within 10 days of notification.
The owner will be charged for expenses related to the removal. All expenses incurred by the village that are not paid by the owner will become a lien upon the resident's property.
