The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County is now selling water-usage stamps.
The stamps are required by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and must be displayed at all times on non-motorized watercraft, including canoes, kayaks, rowboats and paddle boats, operated on Illinois waterways.
The stamps can be displayed on the inside or outside of the watercraft, as long as they are visible to conservation officers, district police officers and rangers.
"We’re pleased to be able to offer these for sale as a convenience to area residents,” Joseph Cantore, president of the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, said. "It makes it easier for outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy the many waterways in our forest preserves."
The district sold 410 stamps last year.
The stamps cost $6.50 for the first three watercraft. They are good until Dec. 31 and can be purchased at the Forest Preserve District headquarters, 35580 Naperville Road, Wheaton.
