Overnight detour scheduled at Beverly Road Interchange on Jane Addams Memorial Tollway
An overnight ramp closure and detour are scheduled this week at the Beverly Road Interchange on the westbound Jane Addams Memorial Tollway (I-90) in Hoffman Estates for installation of new tolling equipment and ongoing toll plaza improvements, according to a July 16 announcement. The work is part of continued efforts to upgrade the toll plaza, with construction expected to continue into 2027.
Electronic message signs and construction signage will be installed in advance to alert drivers about the ramp closures and detours. Up-to-date information will be posted on the Illinois Tollway website in the Daily Construction Alert. All work is weather dependent.
The ramp carrying traffic from westbound I-90 to Beverly Road is scheduled to close at 9 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, for tolling equipment installation. A detour will direct traffic to exit at Illinois Route 59 before reaching Beverly Road, then route vehicles along Illinois Route 72 back to Beverly Road. The ramp is expected to reopen by 5 a.m. on Friday, July 17. Currently, this ramp remains reduced to a single lane at the toll plaza.
These closures and detours are being coordinated with several agencies, including the Illinois Department of Transportation, Cook County officials, Village of Hoffman Estates authorities, as well as local fire and police departments.
The ongoing improvements are part of Move Illinois: The Illinois Tollway Driving the Future—a $15 billion capital program spanning sixteen years—and Bridging the Future—a seven-year $2 billion plan approved by the Board of Directors in December 2024. These programs aim to improve mobility and safety throughout Northern Illinois’ roadway system.
Construction zone speed limits remain in effect around the clock in all construction areas; drivers are urged to watch for changing traffic patterns and use caution near workers. The “Move Over Law” requires motorists approaching vehicles with hazard lights activated on road shoulders to either change lanes or slow down significantly.
