Since 2019, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker has increased state spending by $15 billion. This amount surpasses the annual budgets of 16 other states in the United States. The rise in expenditure has raised concerns about its potential impact on inflation within the state.

"We have to get spending under control in Illinois if we want to reverse ever increasing inflation," reads a statement reflecting the growing concern over fiscal management under Governor Pritzker's administration.
