The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services reported that Glendale Heights had 12 licensed child care facilities in 2025. Details for local providers can be found at Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.

Of these facilities, five were licensed as day care centers (41.7%), four operated as group day care homes (33.3%), and three were family child care homes (25%).

Child care options in Glendale Heights accommodated children from infancy up to age 12, including infants, toddlers, children of preschool age, and those of school age.

Multiple languages were offered by Glendale Heights providers, with all 12 facilities serving in English and one facility also providing services in Spanish.

Statewide data shows Illinois had a total of 8,602 licensed child care facilities during 2025.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services froze certain federal child care and family assistance funds for Illinois, as well as California, Colorado, Minnesota and New York on Jan. 6 over fraud and misuse concerns. This move restricts nearly $2.4 billion in Child Care and Development Fund grants, $7.35 billion in Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, and $869 million in Social Services Block Grants, requiring states to submit documentation before funds are distributed.

Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker called the decision “wrong and cruel”, noting the state could contest the freeze and that Illinois maintains existing anti‑fraud procedures.

State officials indicated the hold may impact an estimated 100,000 families and more than 152,000 children in the Child Care Assistance Program, as well as funding for thousands of licensed child care providers and 275 human service organizations.
