DuPage County announces facility closures for Independence Day holiday observance

DuPage County has announced that several public facilities will be closed in observance of Independence Day. The Burr Ridge Public Works Facility, Lisle Township's Supervisors Office, and the Naperville Environmental Collection Campus will be closed on Friday, July 3. All three facilities are scheduled to resume services on Monday, July 6 at 9 a.m. In addition, the Naperville Regional Household Hazardous Waste Facility will be closed on Saturday, July 4, with hazardous waste collection resuming on Sunday, July 5 at 9 a.m.

According to the county's announcement, residents seeking information about accepted items at each facility are encouraged to visit the Electronics and Textiles section on the DuPage County website. The notice also included a reminder about the Cool DuPage program, which aims to reduce greenhouse gases throughout the county. The program measures progress using three metrics: kilowatts (electricity), therms (gas), and vehicle miles traveled. The initiative is designed to assist both businesses and residents in reducing their environmental impact.

The email notification was sent to subscribers who opted in through the county's website. Subscribers can update their preferences or seek assistance with the subscription service through the provided online resources.

DuPage County is home to a diverse student population, with White students comprising 49.1%, Hispanic students 23.8%, Asian students 16%, Black students 6.3%, and other ethnicities making up 4.8% of the student body during the 2022-23 school year, according to the Illinois State Board of Education. The county's schools also reported a teacher retention rate of 92.3% in 2023, based on a three-year average, according to the same source.
