Wheaton Field of Honor holds opening ceremony and highway renaming announcement
The Wheaton Field of Honor held its opening ceremony on July 2, with attendees recognizing the dedication of the event and a new memorial highway designation.
During the ceremony, it was announced that Roosevelt Road between County Farm and Winfield Roads will be renamed the Staff Sergeant Robert J. Miller Memorial Highway. The sponsorship for this name change was presented by State Representative Jennifer Grant and State Senator Seth Lewis.
"Thank you to Wheaton Field of Honor for a beautiful opening ceremony last night," Grant said. "It was my honor to present the name change of Roosevelt Rd between County Farm and Winfield Roads to the Staff Sergeant Robert J. Miller Memorial Highway sponsored by myself and State Senator Seth Lewis."
Grant, a Republican, was elected to the Illinois State House in 2023 to represent the state's 47th House District, replacing previous state representative Deanne Mazzochi, according to Representative Grant's office.
The Wheaton Field of Honor is an annual event that honors veterans and active-duty military members through displays and ceremonies.
