Court grants pre-trial detention for Hanover Park man accused of assault and kidnapping

A DuPage County judge has granted the State's motion to detain a Hanover Park man prior to trial on charges of sexually assaulting, beating, and kidnapping his girlfriend, authorities announced June 29.

DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and Hanover Park Chief of Police Andrew Johnson said Judge Timothy McJoynt approved the State’s request to hold the accused man in custody as he awaits trial. The man is alleged to have repeatedly sexually assaulted, beaten, and kidnapped his girlfriend.

"Court Grants State's Motion to Detain Pre-trial Man Accused of Sexually Assaulting, Beating and Kidnapping Girlfriend," according to DuPage County officials. The announcement was made available through the State's Attorney Press Releases for DuPage County, Illinois.

DuPage County is home to a diverse population and a robust educational system. White students made up 49.1% of the student body, Hispanic students 23.8%, Asian students 16%, Black students 6.3%, and other ethnicities 4.8% in the 2022-23 school year, according to the Illinois State Board of Education.
