Chicago man sentenced to 20 years for 2022 attempted murder in DuPage County
A Chicago man has been sentenced to 20 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for the attempted murder of a female acquaintance in DuPage County, following a stabbing incident that occurred in the fall of 2022. The sentencing was announced June 29 by DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin.
According to the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office, the man was accused of stabbing the woman multiple times in the stomach, neck, and chest. The incident took place in 2022, and the victim survived the attack. The case was prosecuted in DuPage County, resulting in the defendant receiving a 20-year prison sentence.
The State’s Attorney’s Office released the following statement: “DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin announced today that a Chicago man accused of stabbing a female acquaintance multiple times about her stomach, neck and chest in the fall of 2022 has been sentenced to twenty years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.”
DuPage County is home to a diverse population and a large student body. White students made up 49.1% of the student population, Hispanic students comprised 23.8%, Asian students 16%, Black students 6.3%, and other ethnicities less than 5% during the 2022-23 school year, according to the Illinois State Board of Education.
