Cost of college went up for all students at American InterContinental University

Tuition and fees rose 8.6 percent for 2018-19 at American InterContinental University, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Illinois students paid $11,937 to attend the four-year private for-profit institution this year – $945 more than the $10,992 charged for 2017-18.

Data shows 93 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 291 students received grants or scholarships totaling $1.5 million and 270 students took out student loans totaling more than $1.9 million.

Including all undergraduates (8,777), 6,538 students used grants or scholarships totaling $26.7 million, and 7,193 students took out $55 million in federal student loans.
