York Center FP responds to 47 fires in 2017

York Center Fire Protection responded to 249 calls in 2017 - 18 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in York Center included 47 fires - 37 structure fires, five vehicle fires and five other fires. The fire department also responded to one call for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $826,510 in fire loss - or about $17,585 per fire.

The department also received 201 false calls, including eight malicious calls and 193 other false calls.

The calls resulted in one civilian fire-related injury. Additionally, one fire service member was injured in fire-related incidents.

The York Center Fire Protection had an annual budget of $2,539,776 in 2017.

The York Center Fire Protection District, which has three active employees and retired or inactive employee, was $30,987 positive as of June 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $861 for every fire in 2016.
