York Center FD responds to 60 fires in 2018
York Center Fire Department responded to 313 calls in 2018 - 17.2 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.
The calls in York Center included 60 fires - 47 structure fires, four vehicle fires and nine other fires. The fire department also responded to seven calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.
In all, the department saw $458,500 in fire loss - or about $7,642 per fire.
The department also received 246 false calls, including five malicious calls and 241 other false calls.
One fire service member was injured in fire-related incidents.
The York Center Fire Department had an annual budget of $2,621,353 in 2018.
The York Center Fire Protection District, which has three active employees and retired or inactive employee, was $27,237 positive as of June 2017, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $534 for every fire in 2017.
