Will County officials report 376 coronavirus deaths, with 13,720 confirmed cases
There have been 13,720 confirmed coronavirus cases in Will County as of September 24, with 376 deaths linked to the virus, according to data from the state Department of Public Health (IDPH).
Chicago (78,345 cases) and Cook County (63,085 cases) posted the highest numbers statewide. Chicago's death toll from the virus stands at 2,944, while Cook County recorded 2,243 deaths, according to the IDPH.
Illinois residents who have been tested for COVID-19 now number 5,293,678, the department reported. And the age group with the most confirmed cases was 20 to 29, with 56,597 people in the age group testing positive for the virus.
Among all those testing positive in Illinois, 132,092 were male and 143,990 were female, the IDPH said. Male deaths linked to coronavirus numbered 4,594, while female deaths stood at 3,944.
Broken down according to race, the fatalities consisted of 4,048 Asians, 4,048 whites, 2,212 African-Americans, 1,722 Hispanics, and 177 belonging to other races or who did not provide their ethnicity before they died.
