Two athletes have been recognized for their performances in College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) women’s swimming and diving. Tess Boyer from Wheaton and Giada Castelli from Carthage were named Student-Athletes of the Week following competitions last weekend.

Boyer led her team in several events against Carthage. On Friday, she started by leading off the winning mixed 200 free relay with a split of 24.13 seconds. She also posted a season-best time of 2:06.91 in the 200 individual medley, which is currently the fastest in the CCIW this year. Boyer contributed to her team’s success by swimming the butterfly leg in the 400 medley relay with a split of 56.77 seconds.

On Saturday, Boyer continued to perform strongly, swimming the fly leg in another winning relay and clocking 25.74 seconds in the 200 medley. She won both her individual events: the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:28.98 and set a personal best of 53.39 seconds to win the 100 freestyle, marking another top time in the conference. She concluded her weekend by anchoring the victorious 400 free relay with a split of 51.99 seconds.

In diving, Giada Castelli from Carthage achieved a new personal best on the one-meter board during her team’s dual meet against Wheaton, finishing with a score of 134.20—17 points higher than her previous record.

The announcement also listed past honorees for Student-Athlete of the Week for both swimming and diving throughout October and November.
