A pair of student-athletes have been recognized for their performances in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Swimming & Diving competitions. Wheaton’s Jac Cummings and Carthage’s Taydin Murphy earned Student-Athlete of the Week honors following strong showings in recent dual meets.
Cummings, a sophomore at Wheaton, excelled during his team’s dual meet against Carthage last Friday and Saturday. He won all seven events he competed in, which included three individual races—the 50 freestyle, 100 backstroke, and 200 backstroke—and four relay victories. Cummings recorded season-best times in the 50 free (21.60), the leadoff leg of the 100 free relay (48.76), and the 200 backstroke (2:00.38). His winning time in the 100 backstroke was 53.08 seconds, marking his second-fastest performance this year.
Murphy represented Carthage on the diving boards by posting a season-best score of 252.35 to win the 3-meter event against Wheaton. He also claimed first place on the 1-meter board with a score of 227.10.
