Aurora University’s Cameron Johnson has been named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Wrestling Student-Athlete of the Week. The announcement was made Tuesday, following Johnson’s performance in Aurora’s conference-opening dual last Thursday.

Johnson, a junior from Oswego, Illinois, played a significant role in Aurora's 24-17 win over Carthage. He secured a 9-8 decision against Zaren Anderson at 157 pounds, which helped strengthen the Spartans’ lead during the match. His victory came after teammate Jake Penzato’s result and pushed Aurora ahead 15-5 as the team went on to win five out of ten bouts.

With this result, Aurora started its season with a record of 1-0 both overall and in CCIW competition.

The CCIW also recognized other student-athletes for previous weeks: Mateo Casillas from Millikin was honored on November 11, and Ethan Spacht from North Central received recognition on November 4.
