The City of Wheaton and the Downtown Wheaton Association will launch the holiday season on Friday, November 28, 2025, with several community events.

The festivities begin at 5 p.m. with the Nights of Lights Park Lighting Ceremony in Adams Park. The display will feature more than 55,000 lights and an animated light show at the fountain. Nights of Lights will be open daily from 4 to 10 p.m. through January 4. The event is free and open to all residents and visitors. Adams Park is located near Main and Wesley Street, adjacent to the Wheaton Public Library.

Following the lighting ceremony, the annual Christmas Parade will start at 6 p.m., hosted by the Downtown Wheaton Association. The parade route begins at Wheaton Avenue and Wesley Street, heads south to Front Street, turns east on Front Street, and concludes at Cross Street.

Residents are advised to check the City's website for detailed maps showing road closures and event locations.

Several temporary street closures are planned to accommodate these events:

- Karlskoga Avenue between Wheaton Avenue and Hale Street will be closed from Thursday, November 27 at approximately 9 p.m. until Friday, November 28 at about 8 p.m.

- On Friday, November 28 from approximately 4 to 8 p.m., Wheaton Avenue between Union Avenue and Wesley Street will be closed.

- Additional streets including portions of Wheaton Avenue, Wesley Street, Front Street, Hale Street, Main Street, Cross Street, Scott Street, and Liberty Drive will have temporary closures between approximately 5 to 8 p.m.

- For the Tree Lighting Ceremony on Liberty Drive near Main Street after the parade, Liberty Drive between Main Street and Cross Street will be closed from about 5 to 9 p.m.

Parking restrictions will also be in effect during these times on affected streets.

After the parade concludes, attendees can gather for the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at the pavilion on Liberty Drive near Main Street. The tree display will also remain available for viewing daily from 4 to 10 p.m. through January 4.
