Gary Avenue is set to reopen to two-way traffic between Harrison Avenue and Jewell Road on Wednesday, November 19, according to the contractor for the Gary Avenue Improvement Project. The reopening will occur as soon as temporary road striping is completed, weather permitting.

Although the roadway will be accessible to vehicles, construction crews will continue work on several remaining tasks as conditions allow. These include installing the final roadway surface, finishing pavement striping, and putting in a new traffic signal at Prairie Avenue. During daytime hours when construction is ongoing, flaggers will direct motorists around active work zones. Residents are advised that using the designated detour may help avoid minor delays.

Drivers are urged to exercise caution while traveling through the area due to ongoing construction activities. Landscape restoration associated with the project is scheduled for completion in the spring when suitable weather returns.

"Thank you for your patience as crews work to complete these important infrastructure improvements."
