North Park University’s Mike Vuckovic has been named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week. The announcement was made Monday after Vuckovic delivered strong performances in two games last week, averaging 23.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game.
Vuckovic, a junior guard from Hanover Park, Illinois, also contributed four assists, eight steals, and one block over a total of 71 minutes played. He maintained a field goal percentage of 50 percent (18-for-36) and converted 8 out of 9 free throws.
In Wednesday’s game against Alma, Vuckovic set a personal record with 38 points in North Park’s 82-77 victory. He shot 58 percent from the floor (14-for-24), made two three-pointers, and went 8-for-9 from the free throw line. He added eight rebounds—five of them offensive—along with two assists and two steals in his 34 minutes on the court.
During Saturday’s matchup with Wisconsin-La Crosse, Vuckovic recorded nine points, six rebounds, and six assists.
The weekly CCIW honor recognizes outstanding student-athletes in men’s basketball throughout the season. The Nov. 17 award went to Mike Vuckovic of North Park; previously on Nov. 11 it was given to Lane Thomann from Millikin.
