Wheaton College athletes Aubrey Swanson and Renata Marantz have been recognized as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women’s Swimming & Diving Student-Athletes of the Week. The announcement follows their performances in a recent meet against Calvin.
Swanson contributed to her team by anchoring the medley relay with a split time of 23.98 seconds, achieving the fastest 50 freestyle time in the conference this season at 24.61 seconds, and recording a personal best of 1:02.90 in the 100 butterfly. She also posted a season-best lead-off leg of 55.46 seconds in the 400 freestyle relay, ranking fifth among CCIW competitors.
Marantz participated on both diving boards during the meet, posting scores of 148.40 on the 1-meter and 140.30 on the 3-meter board. Her performance on the 3-meter board was a career high and currently ranks second within the league.
The CCIW has named other weekly honorees for women’s swimming and diving throughout the season, including Emily Belcik from Carthage and Tess Boyer from Wheaton for swimming, and Mae Norman and Kendall Leistico from Carthage for diving.
“Aubrey Swanson delivered a series of standout swims, including the CCIW’s fastest 50 freestyle time and a lifetime best in the 100 butterfly, while Renata Marantz excelled on the diving boards with top team scores and a career-best 3-meter performance,” according to Wednesday's announcement.
