Wheaton College is expected to lead the field at the 2025 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women’s Cross Country Championship, according to the annual pre-championship coaches' poll. The event will take place this Saturday at Saukie Golf Course in Rock Island, Illinois, marking the course's first time hosting since 2019.
The poll shows Wheaton as the frontrunner with seven first-place votes and a total of 63 points. Wheaton is also the defending champion and has secured six conference titles since 2016, including a previous win at Saukie Golf Course in 2019.
Illinois Wesleyan University received two first-place votes and ranked second with 57 points. Elmhurst University came in third with 49 points, followed by North Central College in fourth with 38 points. Millikin University and Carthage College are close behind with 33 and 32 points respectively.
Augustana College placed seventh in the poll with 28 points, while Carroll University earned 16 points and North Park University rounded out the list with eight points.
The championship race will cover a distance of six kilometers and is scheduled to start at 12:45 p.m.
"Wheaton is the CCIW defending champion and has won six of the last eight titles since 2016, including the 2019 championship race in Rock Island, Ill. The Thunder collected seven first-place votes and 63 total points to lead this year’s poll."
