The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) announced its 2025 postseason honors for women’s tennis, recognizing standout student-athletes and coaches from across the league.

Abigail Penados of North Central was named CCIW Student-Athlete of the Year for the third consecutive season. She is the first player to win this award three years in a row since Elizabeth Worsowicz of Wheaton achieved the feat from 2009 to 2011. Penados led her team to another conference title, remaining undefeated at #1 singles.

Rya Arreazola from Carthage received the CCIW First-Year Student-Athlete of the Year award. The freshman, who hails from Janesville, Wisconsin, recorded six doubles victories against conference opponents, mainly playing in the second spot.

North Central’s coaching staff was recognized as CCIW Coaching Staff of the Year. Head coach Nathan Boatright guided his team through an unbeaten league schedule, securing their fourth straight duals title since 2022.

The All-CCIW First Team includes Natasa Pupovac (Carroll), Xingchen Liu (Carthage), Kensington Payne (North Central), Abigail Penados (North Central), Alexandra Pugachova (North Park), and Madeline Gentry (Wheaton).

Second Team selections are Hannah Colbert and Maripaz Ramirez (Augustana), Katherine Trifilio (Carroll), Amber Ehrlich (Illinois Wesleyan), Katja Carlberg (North Park), and Tatum Thurstone (Wheaton).

Recipients of the CCIW RESPECT Award were also announced: Maddy Harned (Augustana), Makayla Counsell (Carroll), Greta Peterson (Carthage), Asma Hasan (Elmhurst), Marianna Arias (Illinois Wesleyan), Kristen Armstrong (Millikin), Sophia Drozd (North Central), Thea Gifvars (North Park), and Janet Kondo (Wheaton).

"Abigail Penados was named the CCIW Student-Athlete of the Year for the third consecutive season, the first recipient of the award three years in a row since Wheaton’s Elizabeth Worsowicz," according to Monday's announcement.

"Rya Arreazola earned CCIW First-Year Student-Athlete of the Year honors on Monday. The freshman from Janesville, Wis. collected six doubles wins against CCIW foes," as stated by league officials.

"The North Central coaching staff was voted the CCIW Coaching Staff of the Year. Under the direction of head coach Nathan Boatright, the Cardinals swept the league schedule to win their fourth straight CCIW duals title since 2022," according to conference representatives.
