North Central College's women's soccer team secured at least a share of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) regular season title after defeating North Park University 3-0 on Saturday. The win keeps North Central undefeated in conference play with a 7-0 record and one match remaining.

This marks only the second time North Central has won the CCIW regular season title, having previously achieved an undefeated conference run in 2023. The Cardinals have one more conference game scheduled for Wednesday, October 29.

The match began with Yazmin Martinez taking an early shot that was blocked by North Park defenders. Gabriella Mattio scored the opening goal in the seventh minute, weaving through defenders to put North Central ahead.

A foul by North Park led to a free kick for North Central, resulting in another foul inside the box. Lange converted the penalty kick to extend the lead to 2-0.

North Park had opportunities to score, including a close-range attempt stopped by goalkeeper Lily Mattison. The first half ended with North Central leading 2-0 and outshooting North Park eight to two.

In the second half, North Central continued its strong play. In the 64th minute, Lange advanced upfield and passed to Lucy Burk, who then crossed back to Lange for her tenth goal of the season, increasing the lead to three goals.

Mattison made several saves throughout the match, recording her seventh shutout of the season and fourteenth career shutout.

North Central will finish its regular season at home against Wheaton College on Wednesday, October 29. With a win or draw, they can secure sole possession of the CCIW regular season title and earn the top seed for the upcoming conference tournament beginning November 1.
