The Village Board of Glen Ellyn has approved adjustments to the community’s water and sewer rates, set to take effect with utility bills issued in January 2026.

Residents will experience an average increase of 4% in total water and sewer costs. The metered rate for water will rise from $10.31 to $10.50 per 1,000 gallons, while the sewer service rate will go up from $7.44 to $7.57 per 1,000 gallons. Fixed fees based on meter size will also be updated.

These changes are part of the ongoing implementation of the Village’s 2022 Water and Sewer Rate Study. According to the Village, this study is designed “to ensure the Village generates sufficient revenue to operate, maintain, and reinvest in its water and sewer systems.” The study also recommends a gradual increase in revenue collected through fixed fees as a measure to enhance financial stability.

Village officials review costs annually, including expenses related to purchasing water from the DuPage Water Commission and maintaining system components. This process aims to ensure reliable service for all residents.
