Glen Ellyn announces Halloween events and trick-or-treat hours for October

The Village of Glen Ellyn has announced a series of Halloween-themed events and activities for the community throughout October. Residents are encouraged to participate in the Halloween Home Decorating Contest, with entries due by October 16.

The recommended hours for trick-or-treating in Glen Ellyn are from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, October 31.

Several local organizations are hosting events in the days leading up to Halloween. On October 17, the Glen Ellyn Public Library will hold a Haunted Library event from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The following day, families can attend a free screening of "Hotel Transylvania" at 10:30 a.m. at the Glen Art Theatre.

Reserve 22 will offer pumpkin carving sessions on October 19 at noon and 3:30 p.m. The Park District is organizing multiple activities, including the Ackerman Haunted Trail on October 23 and 24 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Ackerman Park, and Boo Bash on October 25 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., also at Ackerman Park.

The annual Halloween Festival & Parade will take place in downtown Glen Ellyn on October 25 from 9:30 a.m. to noon. The Glen Ellyn Witches Ride is scheduled for October 26 at 4 p.m.

From October 27 to 31, the Park District will host the Pumpkins on Main Carving Contest at the Main Street Recreation Center. On October 27, a Trunk or Treat event will be held at the same location from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

A Tween Hallow’s Eve Dance is planned for October 30 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Lake Ellyn Boathouse.

Residents are reminded that trick-or-treating is recommended between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. on October 31.
