Westmont Special Events will hold its annual Wicked West Fest Costume Contest on October 18 in downtown Westmont. Registration for the contest begins at 10:15 a.m., with judging starting at 10:30 a.m. The event will take place on East Irving Street near Cass Avenue.

This year, organizers have introduced a new pet category to the costume contest. Steve Golembiewski, President of Westmont Special Events, said, "With so many people dressing up their pets in the past, this year we decided to add a pet costume category. We invite everyone to come out and be part of the fun."

The contest includes seven categories: newborn to 1 year olds, 2-5 years old, 6-9 years old, 10-13 years old, 14 and older, group/family (requiring at least three people), and the new pet category. Judging will focus on costume creativity and overall impact. Awards will be given to the top three costumes in each category.

Free photos will be available at a photo booth from 11 a.m. to noon. Following the contest, attendees can join the Trick or Treat Trail from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., watch the Pumpkin Smashing Extravaganza on West Irving Street from 11 a.m. to noon, and see the Caskets on Cass Race at 12:30 p.m.

Wicked West Fest features various fall and Halloween activities throughout October. Additional information is available on the Village of Westmont website at westmont.illinois.gov.
