The Village of Westmont has announced the return of its holiday lights recycling program in partnership with Elgin Recycling. Residents will be able to dispose of unwanted or broken holiday lights at two drop-off locations: Johanik Fire Station Headquarters at 6015 S. Cass Avenue and the Westmont Public Library at 428 N. Cass Avenue.

The collection is set to begin in late October, allowing for the inclusion of Halloween lights, and will run through January 31, 2026. The drop-off bins are self-service and accessible around the clock. Only holiday lights are accepted for recycling; residents are asked not to include ornaments, lawn decorations, or other non-light items in the collection containers. Additionally, lights should not be placed in plastic bags.

For more information about the program, residents can visit the Elgin Recycling website or call 847-741-4100.
