Maureen Napleton, a Hinsdale lawyer who formerly served as legal counsel for Napleton Auto Group, is facing backlash over social media posts in which she celebrated the assassination of Charlie Kirk and called for violence against President Donald Trump.

“I would be so very happy to dance on this mother fuc%*&# grave,” Napleton said in the post. “If you don't like my opinion, that's a you problem, because I do not give a single shit. Unfollow, unfriend, be gone. This man was a monster and I only hope Trump is next. If these ass$&@# want to live by the sword, they have to die by the sword. And if you don't get that reference, you are too uneducated to comment.”

“He can burn in the deepest depths of hell,” another post reads

Maureen Napleton's father, William, is owner and CEO of the auto group. According to public records, he is a Republican voter and donor to President Trump.

Founded in 1931, Napleton Auto Group is a family-run dealership network with over 70 locations across Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Indiana, Missouri, Pennsylvania and Florida. Though privately owned, it boasts high sales volume at roughly $750 million annually. The group ranks among the largest dealership groups in the country.

Federal Election Commission records show that William donated $1,000 to the "Trump Make American Great Again Committee" on Aug. 19, 2016.

He has voted in eight GOP primaries and zero Democrat ones, dating back to 2000.

As of this writing, Napleton has deleted her LinkedIn profile.

In yet another post, Napleton wrote “If you give a shit about guns and poor Charlie being murdered by guns, pay more attention to the children being gunned down on a regular basis."

Prior to Kirk's assassination, in a post on her birthday, Napleton asked for donations to Planned Parenthood and described Trump as “the orange anti-Christ.”

Kirk was assassinated on September 10, 2025, while speaking at Utah Valley University during his “American Comeback Tour,” a high-profile speaking tour he launched to combat “anti-American indoctrination” in higher education.

He is survived by his wife Erika and their two young children. The three family members were present when Kirk was shot.

Born in Arlington Heights, Kirk graduated from Wheeling High School and at age 18 co-founded Turning Point USA in Lemont. The group is now a nationwide organization with 3,500 high school and college chapters and a multimillion-dollar budget.

Kirk was well known not only for his activism on college campuses but also for his media presence, hosting The Charlie Kirk Show, advising President Donald Trump, and playing an influential role in mobilizing conservative youth.

Following Kirk’s assassination, individuals like Napleton across media, education, aviation, and law enforcement have faced suspension, termination or investigation for publicly mocking or celebrating his death. Employers and public officials, including airlines, universities, government agencies and lawmakers, have taken sweeping disciplinary actions as social media users continue flagging posts and pressuring institutions to take accountability.
