Pedro Mendoza, a candidate for Illinois House District 46, outlined his priorities in an interview, emphasizing fairness, transparency, empowering parents, job creation, and stronger local government planning.

"I do care deeply about fairness, freedom, and understanding all perspectives," said Mendoza. "I am a man of action. Empower Parents and Increase Transparency, Jobs creation, Local Government rolls, Investment, planning and strategy."

Parental empowerment, transparency, and economic development are central issues in Illinois’ 46th District. According to WTTW, these debates have intensified following the end of the Invest in Kids tax-credit scholarship program. This decision has led parents to demand greater involvement in school options while local leaders focus on infrastructure and business growth to bolster the district's economy.

The Illinois job market is experiencing modest but uneven performance. The Illinois Department of Employment Security reports that nonfarm payrolls increased by 20,300 jobs year over year (+0.3%) as of July 2025. However, the statewide unemployment rate remains at 4.6%. Growth has been concentrated in private education and health services sectors, whereas professional services and manufacturing have seen declines.

School choice and parental involvement continue to be significant topics in education debates across Illinois. WTTW notes that more than 9,600 students utilized Invest in Kids scholarships during the 2022–23 academic year before the program was terminated. The Illinois State Board of Education enforces charter school oversight and mandates Title I districts to maintain parent and family engagement policies.

Mendoza relocated from Honduras to Chicago at age 18 with aspirations fueled by faith and family values. He holds a master’s degree in theology and has owned Innova Realty since 1987. As a Spanish-speaking Minister of the Church of Christ since 2009, Mendoza provides spiritual guidance and community support based on compassion and responsibility. His campaign for State Representative focuses on combating corruption, curbing inflationary pressures, strengthening the local economy, and improving access to quality healthcare.

The Illinois House of Representatives is composed of 118 members who serve two-year terms without term limits. According to the Illinois General Assembly, this body collaborates with the Senate and Governor to enact laws and budgets. The representative for District 46 serves suburban DuPage County by advancing policies related to taxation, education, public safety, and infrastructure.
