Dan Proft, co-host of AM 560 The Answer, characterized the protest at the Lisle Tesla dealership as "nothing more than an arts and crafts event." He made this statement in a post on X on March 19.
"What timing," said Proft, Radio host, political commentator and activist. "The Mindless Maladjusted Marxists of DuPage picked the perfect day for their arts and crafts event at a local Tesla dealership. Meanwhile, over in the Gulf of America...kerplunk..."
According to a CBS News report, more than 100 individuals participated in the Tesla Takedown protest in Lisle, Illinois. The demonstration was aimed at President Donald J. Trump, Elon Musk, and the Department of Governmental Efficiency (DOGE) due to its cuts to government services and efforts to dismiss government employees. The protest remained peaceful.

Proft shared a post from former legislator Jeanne Ives on X about the protest. Ives noted that protestors had a chant sheet, buttons, and a schedule for future events. She described them as "angry people" in her post on March 18. Attendees were encouraged to take buttons protesting Musk’s social media platform, X, with a flyer urging donations to Indivisible, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC), and DemocracyForward. Another handout confirmed that the Tesla Takedown protests would continue every Saturday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the sidewalk in front of the dealership without entering dealership property or obstructing entrances or pedestrian traffic.
Forbes reported an increase in Tesla protests and vandalism incidents, including one where five Tesla vehicles were burned at a Las Vegas dealership. Police suspect this was a targeted attack. These events have drawn attention from Tesla CEO and DOGE chief Elon Musk. On March 18, Musk appeared on Fox News saying that some kind of "mental illness" was involved and described the protests as "deranged." He also posted on X claiming that Tesla has done nothing to warrant these attacks and accused Reid Hoffman, George Soros, and other billionaires of being behind them.
Proft is known for co-hosting "Chicago's Morning Answer" weekday mornings from 5 to 9 a.m. on AM 560 Chicago. A former Republican candidate for Illinois governor, he attended Northwestern University and earned his J.D. from Loyola University-Chicago.
