State Representative Jennifer Sanalitro from Hanover Park has introduced two legislative proposals aimed at reducing the tax burden on workers in Illinois. The proposed bills, HB1898 and HB1899, seek to create income tax deductions for gratuities and overtime compensation, respectively.

Representative Sanalitro stated, "Hardworking Illinoisans deserve a break. Whether it’s through earning tips or putting in extra hours, the government shouldn’t be taking more of the hard-earned money individuals work so hard for." She further emphasized that these measures are intended to allow workers to retain more of their earnings without additional state taxation. "These bills fairly let workers keep more of what they earn and stop the state from cashing in on others’ hard work. No more taxes on tips or overtime!" she concluded.

The introduction of this legislation follows recent discussions about implementing similar policies at the federal level. Both bills are currently awaiting committee assignments before they can be debated further in the 104th General Assembly.

For those seeking additional information or wishing to make inquiries, Representative Sanalitro's office can be contacted at 630-349-0645.

Representative Jennifer Sanalitro serves House District 48, which encompasses several communities within DuPage and Cook counties, including Addison, Bensenville, Bloomingdale, Carol Stream, Elk Grove Village, Hanover Park, Itasca, Medinah, Roselle, Schaumburg, and Wood Dale.
