State Representative Jennifer Sanalitro of Hanover Park has introduced a bill to offer Illinois drivers the option of using retro-style license plates. House Bill 3391 proposes that the Secretary of State issue plates modeled after the design used from 1983 to 2001.
"Many Illinois drivers remember these classic plates, and this bill gives them the choice to bring that style back," said Sanalitro. "It’s a fun way to celebrate our state’s history while giving drivers more options."
The proposed legislation includes an additional $40 fee for the initial issuance of a retro plate and a $27 renewal fee. The collected funds would support the maintenance of vehicle services in Illinois.
Currently, HB 3391 is awaiting consideration in the House. For further inquiries, interested parties can contact 630-349-0645.
