State Representative Amy Grant has expressed her concerns regarding Governor Pritzker's recent budget proposal. The proposed budget, which totals $55.2 billion, is the largest in Illinois state history and has sparked debate over its fiscal implications.

Representative Grant, a Republican from Wheaton, criticized the proposal for increasing spending by nearly $2 billion. She stated, "Instead of cutting waste and making the government more efficient, he is relying on tax hikes and unrealistic revenue assumptions to fund his agenda."

Grant highlighted Illinois' high property taxes and noted that the state has allocated over $2.8 billion to programs for undocumented immigrants. She argued that these funds could have been used to support Illinois citizens instead.

"The Governor’s plan includes $590 million in new taxes and budget gimmicks instead of real spending reforms," Grant added. She emphasized the need for responsible budgeting that prioritizes taxpayers without imposing additional financial burdens on families.

Alongside her fellow House Republicans, Rep. Grant intends to advocate for a balanced budget that reduces costs and curtails excessive spending while ensuring prudent use of tax dollars.

Amy Grant is serving her fourth term as State Representative in the General Assembly, representing several communities in DuPage County within the 47th district.
