State Representative Jennifer Sanalitro of Hanover Park has presented her legislative agenda for her second term in the 104th General Assembly. The focus is on reducing costs for Illinois families and workers, protecting victims, and improving access to voting and higher education.
“These proposals are about putting Illinois first,” said Rep. Sanalitro. “Whether it’s helping seniors stay in their homes, making school supplies more affordable, or protecting victims of human trafficking, this agenda addresses the challenges Illinoisans face every day.”
Her legislative package includes several key proposals:
- Property Tax Relief for Seniors: Two bills aim to ease property tax burdens. HB3580 proposes increasing the income cap for the low-income senior freeze to $75,000 annually. HB1906 seeks a school district levy exemption for seniors without students attending school in the district.
- Extended Early Voting Hours: Bill HB1901 proposes extending early voting hours at permanent polling places until 7:00 p.m. on weekdays to accommodate voters' schedules.
- Sales Tax Holiday for Back-to-School Supplies: Measure HB1905 aims to exempt school supplies from sales tax during back-to-school time, helping reduce costs for parents and guardians.
- Protections for Human Trafficking Victims: Bill HB1903 would allow trafficking survivors to obtain orders of protection against traffickers, providing a legal mechanism for safety.
- Preserving Night Classes at Public Colleges: Resolution HR90 emphasizes maintaining night classes at public colleges and universities in Illinois to support students balancing work and family commitments.
“These bills reflect the values and priorities of the people I represent,” added Rep. Sanalitro. “From reducing property taxes to protecting survivors and expanding access to education, my 2025 agenda focuses on real solutions for the challenges we face as a state.”
The proposed legislation is currently under review by the 104th General Assembly.
