State Senator Seth Lewis has initiated his third annual "Valentines for Seniors" card drive, aiming to bring joy to seniors in the 24th Senate District. The initiative encourages students from schools, church groups, scouting organizations, and other community groups to create homemade cards and drawings. These will be delivered to assisted living centers, nursing homes, and long-term care facilities during the week of Valentine's Day.
"This heartwarming project grows in popularity every year and I cannot wait to see how many cards and drawings we receive from the generous people of the 24th District this year," said Lewis. "Last year we delivered thousands of cards and drawings to appreciative seniors, and I hope to deliver even more well-wishes this year."
Participants can drop off or mail their contributions until February 7 at Senator Lewis' office in Carol Stream. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. For those unable to visit during these hours or mail their items, alternative delivery arrangements can be made by calling (630) 349-0645.
Senator Lewis emphasized the importance of this initiative by stating, "Loneliness can be a real issue for the elderly, so it’s nice to bring them some joy so they know we’re thinking of them."
