State Representative Amy Grant of Wheaton is urging Illinois residents to recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October. According to the Illinois Department of Public Health, approximately 12,000 women in Illinois are diagnosed with breast cancer each year.

"Breast cancer is the most common cancer affecting women in the United States, but early detection can make all the difference," said Rep. Grant. "When detected early, the five-year survival rate is nearly 99%. This underscores the importance of regular mammograms and proactive health screenings."

Rep. Grant encourages participation in local awareness events, support for those affected by breast cancer, and education on early detection's significance. Regular screenings like mammograms can detect cancer before symptoms appear, providing a better chance for successful treatment.

For further information on breast cancer screenings and resources, individuals are directed to visit the Illinois Department of Public Health website.

To reach out for more details, contact State Representative Amy Grant’s District Office at 331-218-4182.

Amy Grant is serving her third term as State Representative in the General Assembly. The 47th district includes several communities in DuPage County such as Naperville, Warrenville, Glen Ellyn, Wheaton, Lisle, Carol Stream, Bartlett, West Chicago, Winfield, and Wayne.
