Senator Seth Lewis earns high marks from manufacturing association

Senator Seth Lewis has been recognized by the Illinois Manufacturing Association (IMA) with an "A" ranking on its 2024 Legislative Report Card. The IMA acknowledged Lewis as a "Champion of Manufacturing" for his legislative efforts supporting the manufacturing industry in Illinois. Donovan Griffith, Vice President of Government Affairs at IMA, praised Lewis for advocating measures that enhance investment and economic growth.

Lewis is also collaborating with State Representative Amy Grant to host an Electronics Recycling Event on October 5 in Wheaton. This event aims to prevent electronics from ending up in landfills by offering a free recycling opportunity for items such as cell phones and computers.

Additionally, Lewis and Grant will facilitate a service on October 24 in Carol Stream where residents can update their IPASS transponders to new sticker technology. Officials from the Illinois Tollway will assist attendees with the transition process.

In another initiative, Lewis is joining forces with legislators from DuPage County for the "Love Purse Collection," benefiting domestic violence survivors during Domestic Violence Awareness Month. New purses filled with toiletries will be collected at their office location in Carol Stream throughout October.

Several organizations in DuPage County have received Immediate Intervention grants totaling $1.03 million from the DuPage Community Transformation Partnership (DCTP). These funds are designated for addressing food insecurity, housing instability, mental health, and substance use disorder within the community.

The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is now accepting applications from eligible households needing help with energy bills or services restoration. Applications are being processed through various offices across DuPage County until August 15, 2025.

Furthermore, Senator Lewis has been named a Champion of Free Enterprise by the Illinois Chamber of Commerce for his support of business legislation fostering economic opportunities in Illinois. Lou Sandoval, President and CEO of the Chamber, commended Lewis's contributions to business-friendly policymaking.

Lastly, $240,000 in adult literacy grants have been allocated to library systems within District 24 by the Secretary of State’s Office. These grants aim to enhance library services and literacy programs across several local organizations.
