The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County is inviting the public to participate in a brief online survey on dupageforest.org regarding master planning efforts for Mayslake Peabody Estate in Oak Brook. The survey is available now through Dec. 31.

Mayslake Peabody Estate, purchased by the District in 1993, features the historic Mayslake Hall at its center. The Tudor Revival-style mansion was commissioned in 1919 by Francis Stuyvesant Peabody and designed by Chicago architect Benjamin Marshall. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Mayslake Hall serves as a community space for educational programs, art exhibits, and cultural events throughout the year. Recent renovations to the building’s exterior have been completed, and planning is now underway to expand use of the interior and surrounding forest preserve.

The Mayslake master plan initiative will address key issues such as accessibility and HVAC, electrical, and plumbing needs, aligning with the Forest Preserve District’s 2019 Master Plan. The District is working with a consultant specializing in historic building restoration and adaptive reuse to assess the estate's systems and engage stakeholders in the planning process.

Further details about the plan can be found at dupageforest.org/what-we-do/projects/mayslake-master-plan.

The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County has been connecting people to nature for over 100 years. Annually, more than 5.5 million people visit its 60 forest preserves, 166 miles of trails, seven education centers, and various programs. For more information, call 630-933-7200 or visit dupageforest.org.

"We strive to connect all people to nature," stated a representative from the District. "We're committed to promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging and providing facilities, programs, and activities free from discrimination or harassment."
